Steffen Böhm is Professor in Organisation & Sustainability at University of Exeter Business School.
He was previously Professor in Management and Sustainability and Director of the Essex Sustainability Institute at the University of Essex. He is Honorary Professor in Management and Sustainability at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, Visiting Professor in Renewable Energy Activism at Uppsala University, Sweden, and Guest Professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden. He holds a PhD from the University of Warwick.
He has held other visiting positions at universities and institutions around the world including University of Innsbruck (Austria), Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), and Federal University of Rio Grande du Sul (Brazil).
His research focuses on political economy & ecology & justice of the food-energy-water-climate-land-labour nexus.
He was a co-founder of the open-access journals ephemera: theory & politics in organization and Interface: A Journal for and about Social Movements, and is co-founder and co-editor of the new open-access publishing press MayFlyBooks.
He is reviewer for top ranked journals including Organization Studies, Organization, Journal of Management Studies, Climate Policy, Culture and Organization, Human Relations, Management & Organizational History, Antipode, Urban Studies, Macromarketing and others.
He has published five books:Repositioning Organization Theory (Palgrave), Against Automobility (Blackwell), Upsetting the Offset: The Political Economy of Carbon Markets (Mayfly), and The Atmosphere Business (Mayfly), and Ecocultures: Blueprints for Sustainable Communities (Routledge). A new book, Climate Activism, is forthcoming with Cambridge.
