“The road to economic recovery isn’t a road. It’s a flightpath.”

I saw this ad on the tube a few weeks ago in London. A great piece of mis-information. A classic piece of company propaganda – ah sorry, public relations. There are so many assumptions built into this little tag line. It is litterally a corporate call to arms; we can’t wait, we must act. A Churchillian dramatic appeal to the citizens of London (and the UK). This is evidence again that big companies often change their public messages according to the current dominant logic and discourse. If 3-5 years ago the aviation industry was very keen to show it’s contribution to ‘sustainability’, it is now economic growth they are most concerned with. So, what is it? Well, fundamentally, they are most interested in their bottom line one suspects.
